Description
The first of a kind course that teaches what the job of a quantitative analyst, developer or strat really is. There will be nearly no math, but you will learn learn about the exact types of the quant jobs, daily routines, reports being generated, quant library organization, as well as skills that are really necessary and the career prospects.
This course will teach you about cash vs accrued accounting, recognition of various transactions on the balance sheet and income statements, Position and PNL reports, risk reports and PNL attribution, library development and release process, dynamics with IT and relationships with the regulators. We will even touch on the fairly sensitive topics about true motivation of quants and expected progress of pay, as well as the feasibility of changing specialization.
You will be instructed in the crucial concepts of the work ethics in a financial firm, and in business in general, and get some hints on how to develop EQ and social skills. As a bonus, there will be a holistic overview of the modelling approaches at the very end and a very nice musical introduction!
Sections on the organizational structure and reports will be also useful for non-quant graduates, including MBAs and CFA candidates.
